Thursday NAHS Varsity  Baseball  traveled to Upper Dublin to face one of our prominent rivals for the division.  We received a superior pitching effort from Junior, Nick Edling.  He had a no-hitter through four innings and faced the minimum number of batters.  In the fifth he gave up his first hit.  However, the Eagles stranded the runner and in the sixth and Edling worked out of a bases loaded no-out jam by striking out the next three batters.  He cruised into the bottom of the 7th with a 2-0 lead.  Edling had 11 strikeouts, and had registered only 68 pitches.  Unfortunately that is where the good news ended.  He gave up a lead-off single and followed that with a walk.  The next batter bunted and the ball was poorly thrown and poorly fielded by the Eagles’s third and first basemen leaving the ball to travel out of bounds. Consequently, the runner from second scored and the batter from first advanced to third base.   Edling and the team faced two runners in scoring position with no out.  The batter blooped a single to shallow right and the ball was mistakenly thrown to second before failing to stop the winning run at the plate.  Eagles took the loss at 3-2.  Still, the Eagles took a positive from the game knowing that they are equal or better to a division rival, the negative is the mistakes were made in a pivotal moments.

Friday the Varsity team competed against Academy Park in a non-league game. NAHS jumped on the opposition early scoring 7 runs in the first, courtesy of their pitcher struggling to find the strike zone.  The Eagles completed the demolition scoring five unearned runs in the fourth inning.  NAHS held strong due to some excellent pitching from Freshman, Dom Proietto and Junior, Cole Messics. The final score 12-1, after calling the mercy rule in the fifth.   Both Eagles pitchers were efficient only walking one runner each and working quick to keep their fielders in the game.  Also of note, is Senior, Terell Dale who is off to a fast start after suffering an 0-3 in the opener; this week he was on base five of the six at bats he had. Currently he has scored three runs, stolen two bases and has two hits.

The JV team lost 3-1 Thursday and won 13-4 Friday.  NAHS Eagles had to add the Freshmen to the roster of JV due to numbers, injury and academics, so coach Forrest has his hands full right now learning an additional compliment of nine players.

The Eagles’s Baseball teams are scheduled to play @ Quakertown on Monday, @Home Springfield on Tuesday, and @ Upper Merion on Thursday.

In addition NAHS Baseball was rescheduled due to unplayable conditions at Pope John Paul’s field on Tuesday.  The game is now scheduled for Tuesday, May 3  at NAHS.
