Choose the Right Shoes for Track and Field

Choose the Right Shoes for Track and Field

The most important and biggest thing is your spikes. Picking your spikes is an important part because you want the right spike for the event you’re running. The wrong spike can lead to injuries while running. So, wearing the right spikes helps give you the right boost you need for each event.

The 100m

The 100m is literally a straight line that is 100 meters; it’s the shortest outdoor event to run. Everyone thinks it’s easy because it’s the shortest distance, but this event is considered one of the hardest races, because you have to be really fast and push yourself at every single moment in the race.

Nike Air Zoom Maxfly 2.

When picking the right spikes for your event is difficult, but important. When picking spikes, you want them to be tight but still a bit loose. The best spikes for this event is the ultra-responsive Nike Air Zoom Maxfly 2. These spikes give good support, as they just added a foam bubble in the middle of the shoe for more energy to run smoothly across the track. They also have bright, beautiful colors.

The 200m

Adidas Prime SP4

This event is my second favorite. This event is light work; you start on a curve and as you finish the race you’re running on the straight path. In this event you also have to sprint the whole thing. At the beginning you start on the curve of the track. The beginning of the race is also the most important part. My coach says that ¨if you’re lazy at the beginning of the race and don’t get out fast enough, the race is already over¨ People think if you save your energy then you’ll win but no; You have to start every race getting out. You want to try to keep a distance with the other runners and keep on sprinting your fastest. The best spikes for this event are the Nike Air Zoom Maxfly 2Nike Superfly Elite 2, Adidas Prime SP4, and the Adidas Prime Hyper Carbon CP2. These give maximum energy return with ultra lightweight uppers that stabilize the foot through high speed curves optimizing speed and responsiveness.

The 400m

Nike Zoom Rival Sprint

The 400m is one lap around the track. For this event you need to know how to run through lactic acid. Lactic acid is produced when you consume energy faster than oxygen; it’s basically a bad lock in your body. From my own exercise, when I first got Lactic acid, it hurt really bad, and I found out sitting at work makes it lock more, but after you practice more on the 400m, you get used to it. You learn how to make the lactic acid go away quickly. If you want the lactic acid to go away faster, walk even more.

It sounds weird, but it’s true. Take and spike off, drink some water, and walk. Now, how you run the 400m meter is difficult. You start on the curve just like the 400m, you still have to get out fast but you don’t want to keep that same pace at the start you want to use at least 99% of your speed. Once you run on the straight away, the 100m part, bring your speed down to 85%. At this point most people are tired and out of breath, but if you stay calm and work on your breathing, you should be good. Once it’s the last 200m of the race,  you want to use the last of your energy and push yourself to run though the lactic acid and run to the finish line the fastest you can. The best spikes for this race are Nike Maxfly 2, Nike Zoom Superfly Elite 2,  and Nike Zoom Rival Sprint.
