More stories from Tiann Byrd
On April 15th, Norristown Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman girls basketball team had a banquet at Elmwood Park Zoo. That evening coaches and parents showed their hard work off by showing the girls a good time. They treated the players to a food bar with desserts and drinks. The head coach, Richard Fisher and the assistance coach, Chris Santori put together the films from throughout the season together to show the players the bloopers and the times we worked together as a family. They also showed the parents appreciation for helping out through the season with snack stands and rides when girls couldn’t find one.
As they prepared the awards for everyone, they let the girls catch up. They handed out awards like V.I.P, participation, etc. Special guest came to give a very special kind of award away. The girls basketball team who attend Norristown High in the past, come back every year to give a special donation to a specific senior who plans on playing basketball college. This year the money was given to Morgan Culbreath, she received $1,200. “I felt great about myself and how I am slowly chipping away my college tuition”, Morgan described as she felt when she got the award. Everyone was so grateful how Norristown alumni put in time and effort to help the new ones!
