Is Shadowhunters a “Must Watch” or Not?

Cassidy Uzdzienski, Staff Reporter

The Shadowhunters series on Freeform follows Clary Fray who discovers on her eighteenth birthday that she comes from a human angel hybrid race called Shadowhunters. Their job is to protect to humans (who are called mundanes) from the Shadow World which includes demons, vampires, seelies, and werewolves. Clary must learn to fit into this new world that she never knew about whilst trying to get her mother back from the evil, rogue Shadowhunter, Valentine, who kidnapped her and is set on retrieving a powerful object from her that is extremely important to the Shadowhunter race.

The show is all about finding yourself and is a coming of age story with mythical creatures thrown into the mix, which makes it all the more enjoyable. It is a fun show with a few cheesy and cringe worthy moments, but seems to be very promising as each episode airs and the better it gets. The actors need to have some more time with their characters to do them justice and the special effects and acting could be better, but overall it seems that the story is just beginning and will get better and better from here on out. I’m excited for the journey and the action and laughs it entails. Overall score: 3.5/5 stars. Verdict:  Must watch for fantasy fans.
