What Is Nomophobia?

This world is rapidly changing, society is advancing, and as society moves forward so does technology. The cell phone has the biggest impact in society. From 1876 to wherever the future takes the cell phone, its influence will never cease. Sometimes big inventions like the cell phone evolve and become something people can’t live without which cause problems because the moment these people have no mobile contact they are ready to run riot! Nomophobia, the fear of being out of a mobile phone contact, has increasingly become more common. So the real question here is, what causes this Nomophobia to occur and are people really afraid to leave their house without a phone or read a book without touching a mobile devices? Nomophobia may be a new phobia, but it’s posing a larger threat to future generations.

Anxiety is one of the main products of Nomophobia; it causes the person to feel wiry and feel like their life is about to end if they don’t have a phone within reach. Nomophobia also causes people to freak out if they did not have their phone because they wouldn’t be able to see the new celebrity post or the new meme posted on Facebook. Fear is also a major symptom because it causes people to think they won’t be able to function without an electronic device. Humans sometimes have weird ways of expressing themselves and their actions may cause other people to think that they are nutcases, but let’s face it, everybody has that one fear that causes them to freak out.  Nomophobia will continue to grow and more people will start seeing more cases of this phobia as long as there are phones, chargers, and an outlet.
