The Food Allergy and Education Awareness foundation has launched a new project in order to include all children during Halloween trick or treating. One out of every thirteen kids have food allergies, so for children dealing with this, trick or treating can be problematic since they can’t always eat the candy they’re given. Parents have to keep a close eye on their kids in order to manage these allergies. In efforts to keep Halloween fun and stress free, the FARE developed a solution they call “The Teal Pumpkin Project”. This project involves houses putting out a teal colored pumpkin in order to signify that they are giving out non-candy items for children with allergies. When they see a teal pumpkin, families with food allergies will easily be able to know which houses their kids will be able to receive non-candy items. In order to help support The Teal Pumpkin Project people can take the pledge to support the cause. By taking this pledge, one promises to display a teal pumpkin and hand out non-candy items to kids with allergies. Donations are also acceptable to spread awareness about the project and the cause. Go get a teal pumpkin and some fun Halloween toys in order to support children with food allergies!
