Top 10 Reasons to Watch “Empire”

- I think they have a great cast from Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Gabourey Sidibe, Grace Gealey, Malik Yoba, Trail Byers, Bryshere Gray, and Kaitlin Doubleday.
- The music. The music is produced by Timbaland and the songs are radio-worthy. It’s hard to weave music into TV and not have it seem cheesy, but Nashville proved it can be done and so far it seems Empire will follow suit.
- Taraji P Henson is always great, and Empire is no exception. She manages to stay fierce and funny while delivering a deeply heartfelt performance.
- It is timely and deals with culturally relevant issues like sexuality, race, and family head on. While it is definitely a soap opera, the show feels more significant than a traditional mindless guilty pleasure.
- Remember The OC? Fox knows how to do over-the-top money/ family dramas right. Similar to The OC, I don’t know if Empire has more than 2 good seasons in it (the pace of the first episode was insane), but I promise you will enjoy the ride no matter how short it is.
- They have a great selection of special guests, from Courtney Love, Mary J Blige, etc.
- It gives you a look behind what it is like to run a family company.
- It is a good show for you if you like drama.
- It has a great TV rating.
- I guess you may wonder why everyone is tripping over this show… it’s because it’s just so good, but I can’t speak for you. All I can tell you is to go watch it on Wednesdays on Fox at 9pm.
