Bridge To Employment Comes to NAHS
June 18, 2018
The Bridge to Employment Program, created from Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals, has come to NAHS. This program is actually 25 years old, but is new to NAHS. Norristown Area High School is now the third school to be chosen in this area to be a part of this venture.
The program targets students that are achieving at an average status in school who are interested in pursuing a future in the science and medical fields. It is designed to help students grow and allows them to gain more knowledge. Johnson and Johnson is putting in over 100 thousand dollars a year for three years.
The students in the program gain an opportunity to work behind the scenes and learn how medicine is made and to more fully understand what they want in terms of a future career.
Most NAHS students who applied did not find the screening process rigorous, but rather they found it interesting. Most of the students applicants aimed to gain more knowledge about their future careers through hands-on experience. Even students who were not interested in science or the medical fields benefited from applying for Bridge to Employment.
Realistically, this program will not be available to NAHS students forever, but while it is here the College Career Center as well as the counseling center will continue to support students in the application process to gain them access to this amazing experience.
