Girls Volleyball Banquet 2017
More stories from Cameron Johnson
October 28, 2017, Norristown´s Girls Volleyball held their annual team banquet at Montgomery County Community College. The team reminisced on their volleyball season, but in a more formal way. The evening started with a casual dinner and light music. The theme of the menu was a family styled Thanksgiving Dinner, which included the typical fixings of turkey, chicken, mac and cheese, green beans and baked apples. Everyone shared a few laughs and snapped plenty of pictures while enjoying their dinner. Next, a slideshow video was shown as a recap of the girls entire season while many of the girls covered their eyes when a picture or video of themselves shuffled across the screen. Finally, the night came to a closing with an award ceremony. It was a very emotional night for starting middle hitter, Tovy(anah) Wright. Tovy was awarded the offensive player of the year. She had the most hits, kills, and aggressive plays in the front row this season. Coach Connie gave Tovy a special senior keepsake to be reminded that the team will always be with her. A few other outstanding recognitions was the blocker of the year award and student athlete award which was earned by Lorraine Boggs. The MVP of the varsity team was Cameron Johnson and the MVP of the junior varsity was Erin Morris. Next year the team hopes to make it to playoffs and represent female athletes for Norristown. Overall it was a enjoyable night and the lady eagles are looking forward to a victorious season next year!
