Carley Harrity Eagle of the Month
March 17, 2016
Norristown Area High School has a number of sports teams that are always on the rise. The athletes often get featured and rewarded. However, one NAHS sports team that doesn’t get the spotlight is the diving team. It’s a small nit group of students who have dedicated their time after school to this team. One student in particular has showed great accomplishments. Carly Harrity has been competitively swimming since the age of five. During Carley’s sophomore year of high school she decided to go out for Norristown High’s diving team because she felt it related to gymnastics, which she was also doing at the time. In her first year her parents had noticed her excel naturally, but due to a concussion she wasn’t able to finish the season.
Just recently in Carley’s senior year of diving she has broken two records. She broke the 6 dive and 11 dive records for Norristown. Carley’s family says that her gymnastics ability had primarily attributed to her success. From her dedication and determination she has made it a long way, not only in diving, but also in life. This sport teaches perseverance, focus and goal setting. Carley has learned that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it and so can anyone else.
