“Me Before You” Book Review!
March 1, 2016
If you are looking for a funny, adorable, and heartbreaking tale this is perfect for you. The novel, Me Before You written by Jojo Moyes, follows Louisa Clark after she has been let go from her job at the tea shop that she loves and has been working at for a while. After she loses her job, she is forced to take the only other job available for her, a care-giver for a man named Will who got into a motorcycle accident and lost his desire to live. Louisa is a burst of color in his life and has the goal of persuading him to want to live. In order to do this, she takes him on many adventures during their time together that brought so many smiles to my face.
At first their relationship doesn’t start off too well and Louisa has no idea what she is doing, but after some time she starts to get the hang of taking care of Will and that is when their relationship blossoms into something beautiful. This book had me laughing out loud at some points and the family aspects was just so relatable that when I was reading conversations with her family I felt as if I was reading one that I had with my own. The story also had its heartbreaking moments and I will tell you that I sobbed quite a bit during this book and had to put it down to collect myself. Overall this story was so good and I devoured it in a day, always wanting to read more. I am so excited for the film adaptation of this wonderful book starring Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Sam Clafin (The Hunger Games) which is coming to theaters this June.
Overall: 5/5 stars
Genre: Contemporary, Romantic Comedy
