North Korea Poses a Possible Nuclear Threat to the U.S.
September 30, 2015
Is North Korea a Nuclear threat to the United States? It may be. North Korea has a “steadily improved” nuclear program, which they intend to use against the USA. The Korean officials say that they are ready to fire a nuclear attack on U.S at any point in time.
North Korean Central News has addressed the restarting of Nuclear facilities two years ago, along with the restoration of their Uranium enrichment facilities. Los Angeles Times stated that, “Satellite imagery published last week by the North Korean affairs website 38 North suggested evidence of new activity at Yongbyon’s plutonium production complex. Yongbyon is about 55 miles north of Pyongyang, the capital”.
The threat came just a day after they had announced their planned rocket launch, insisting that they had a right to go to space. Supposedly a satellite is prepared to be sent to space on October 10th, this would be the 70th anniversary of the Workers Party. However, on September 6th an unnamed diplomatic source claimed that no rocket was seen at the launch tower.
This is unsettling news because the South Korean News Agency said, “Pyongyang has long been accused of using long-range rocket launches as a pretext for test-firing intercontinental ballistic missiles. Experts say long-range rockets and ICBMs are basically the same with differences only in payloads”. They also added, “The North is believed to have honed advanced ballistic missile technologies through a series of test launches, including a 2012 launch that succeeded in putting a satellite into orbit. That test is considered the most successful so far” .
North Korea has conducted three underground nuclear tests in the years: 2006, 2009, and 2013. This has added to the fear of North Korea being capable of creating nuclear tipped missiles that could potentially reach the United States.
