9/11 Remembrance ; A day never forgotten...

On September 11th, 2001 the Twin Towers in New York City were hit by two airplanes, flown by Al-Qaeda terrorists. The Pentagon located in Arlington County, Virginia was also hit by a plane flown by terrorist, but the last plane didn’t reach its planned destination because it was taken over by the passengers after hearing the news of hijacked planes; the plane crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. There was a total of almost 3,000 people dead due to 9/11 and many injured. 9/11 will always be a sensitive topic to many Americans, even after 14 years past. It  definitely opened America’s eyes about terrorism and made us realize that we had to take better control when handling it. On October 26th, 2001, George Bush signed the Patriot Act, which was a response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, giving law-enforcement officials greater ability to tap telephonestrack Internet users, etc. Every year, September 11th is remembered by millions and should never be forgotten.

The "Tribute in Light" memorial is in remembrance of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The two towers of light are composed of two banks of high wattage spotlights that point straight up from a lot next to Ground Zero. This photo was taken from Liberty State Park, N.J., Sept. 11, the five-year anniversary of 9/11. (U.S. Air Force photo/Denise Gould)
