The gym gleamed last Saturday as students arrived eagerly for the 2025 Homecoming Dance, themed “Under the Stars.” Music resonated through the space and enjoyment radiated from every corner of the room, setting the scene for an evening of experiences that will be remembered long after the end of the evening.
Students, who were welcomed by the murmur of conversation and the sound of music made by the DJ’s playlist, a mix of current and past hits, arrived in their best suits and gowns. Groups of friends clustered the photo scenes, posing under the navy and silver stars-themed backdrops, while others packed the dance floor. Even those who usually avoided the fray couldn’t help but sway along to the beat.
The dance followed the previous night’s Homecoming football game. The crowd cheered as Dario Rojas-Zurita and Precious Adeshokan were chosen as this year’s Homecoming King and Queen. Both obtained loud cheers from the crowd as their wins were announced, marking one of the focal points of Homecoming weekend. Dario, wearing his crown joyously, was seen on the dance floor celebrating with friends and peers.
Participation was especially high compared to previous years, making the gym feel lively and animated.
“I think it’s really cute. Like, there’s a lot of people dancing because it’s more busy than last year,” said Marley Gurreonero, noting the crowd and the overall feeling of the room.
Another attendee replied that there was definitely a higher energy than past years.
“I feel like there’s more people engaged in this now. Like people are actually dancing and stuff,” Luis Zavala observed.
Teachers and other chaperones watched from the back and edges of the gym and reception area, smiling as students chatted, laughed, posed for photos, and danced the night away. The evening carried a mix of joy and nostalgia, a shared sense of togetherness that permeated the space. For seniors, the dance was a chance to make one of their last high school memories together, while underclassmen found what makes homecoming so special. Everywhere you looked, someone was dancing, recording videos, or attempting to take group pictures before the next song started.
As the night continued, the party became louder and bolder. Groups took turns in dance circles, drawing in other spectators and showcasing their best moves.
The music would eventually wound down and collections of friends formed under the glow of the colored lights. The final songs gave people a moment to take a breath and soak in the memories one last time. Homecoming 2025 was more than a simple high school dance, it was a night of bonding, celebration, and beautiful memories. A time for students and friends to join together and dance under the stars.
