Giovanni Piergrossi
Ever since Giovanni was a freshman at Norristown Area High School, he’s been anticipating the day he would become a senior so he could enter the Mr. Norristown pageant. “Freshman year, I really wanted to join, but I found out that it was only for seniors and I was like, ‘well ok when I’m a Senior I’m going to do this.’”
The wait to become part of Mr. Norristown for Piergrossi was bearable, however, due to the connections he has made throughout his high school career. “My four years being Norristown Area High School has been very interesting,” he said. “I’ve learned a lot and became close to a lot of teachers and made many friends here, but overall it’s been enjoyable.”
Winning, however, isn’t Piergrossi’s biggest concern. “To me, winning Mr. Norristown means that I’m able to show my talents. It’s not about winning; it’s about having fun and enjoying myself and giving everyone a good show.”
Being part of Mr. Norristown doesn’t make Piergrossi lose sight of what he strives to do in life. “I’m just looking forward to college but I’m not exactly sure where I’m going yet. I hope to do something along the lines of an engineer, either aerospace or biomedical.”
As his high school career is coming to a close, Piergrossi has some wise words to share with the underclassmen. “A piece of advice I would give [underclassmen] is to be themselves because a lot of high school teenagers try to become other people or becoming(sic) something that other people find acceptable, but the best thing to do is to be yourself and find your own way through life. I feel like people figure that out as they get older, but it’s good to learn about it when you’re in high school.”
